Children’s Mental Health Week (6 Feb 2020)

Thu, 02/06/2020 - 16:29
Preet Kaur Gill: My hon. Friend is right; poverty has consequences. Take social security. The Government’s flagship policy of universal credit is not only driving more households into poverty but is creating a climate of fear and threats. Those are all factors that lead to poor mental wellbeing. No child should have to reach crisis point before they are able to get help with their mental health. We cannot...

I am concerned that our international-facing Departments spend enormous amounts of money responding to crisis but do little...

Business of the House (6 Feb 2020)

Thu, 02/06/2020 - 10:59
Preet Kaur Gill: I understand that the census order in Scotland was laid on 23 January 2020, and 10 years ago the census order was laid on 21 October 2009. In December 2018, we were promised that the order would be laid in autumn 2019, but we are still waiting. Can the Leader of the House tell Parliament when we can expect the census order to be laid?

Local Government Finance (5 Feb 2020)

Wed, 02/05/2020 - 15:04
Preet Kaur Gill: Does the hon. Gentleman agree that councils of all political persuasions are already, as he said, in severe financial trouble following 10 years of savage cuts by the Conservative Government? The Government’s new adult social care funding formula, which will actually see Birmingham lose almost £50 million, will further exacerbate inequalities both within and between councils.

Preet Kaur Gill: Does my hon. Preet Kaur Gill: I rise to speak to the amendments in my name and the names of my colleagues. Colleagues have already raised these important issues. I urge...
