Preet Kaur Gill MP has sucessfully secured the installation of CCTV cameras to combat flytipping in an Edgbaston hotspot.
Over the last 10 months Preet has been contacted by a number of constituents who have been concerned about reccurring flytipping in their area.
Preet wrote to Birmingham City Council to ask for a long-term solution to this problem, and requested them to install CCTV and provide signage in the area to deter flytippers.
Preet has recently received a response from Council, detailing that a CCTV camera is going to be installed in the flytipping hotspot. The lamp column camera will be accompanied by signage to notify its presence where it will also act to deter flytippers.
Preet said, "I believe that the presence of this camera will act as a significant deterrent against flytipping in the area, and will dramatically reduce the amount of waste that it being deposited. It will also help the Council to identify offenders if waste is still being deposited in this area."
If you do see any flytipping in your area, please ensure that you always report it to the Council.
